ABOUT

GOOD HOPE

SCHOOL

Good Hope, established in 1954, is a Catholic school conducted by the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. It first started as a kindergarten on Waterloo Road. The primary section opened at 383 Jat’s Incline three years later. In 1957, the secondary section accepted its first Secondary One students.

The School consists of three sections, mainly Good Hope School refers to the secondary section and Good Hope Primary cum Kindergarten includes both the primary section and kindergarten. The secondary section has over 1200 students in total allocated in 36 classes. In Secondary One to Three, each big class splits into two small classes.

Good Hope puts special emphasis on the Catholic values of Love, Hope, Joy and Thanksgiving. Through a whole-school approach, we aim to draw out the potential and foster the sense of uniqueness of each student. We are committed to provide all Good Hopers with equal opportunities to develop their spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and aesthetic dimensions. The School aims to create the best possible environment to bring out the giftedness in each of our students.

ABOUT

DELIA'S

WING

Delia’s Wing, located in the secondary section, was opened in 1984. Its hall provides our secondary students with space and opportunities to unleash their potential.

It is here that many of them learnt to overcome their stage fright and are trained to be competent and witty speakers. Countless concerts, solo and choral speaking competitions, dances and dramas have also been held. Most importantly, the hall is a cradle of many outstanding Hopers with diverse talents, e.g. Miss Elim Chan, a renowned conductor, who became the 1st female winner of the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition in 2014.

Visual Arts as well as Technology and Living lessons are also conducted in Delia’s Wing where students can enjoy doing their practical work in the spacious and well-equipped rooms.

"Delia’s Wing is a place that inspires young minds.  It is a platform to showcase our talents, such as singing, dancing, speech and drama, striving for excellence and breakthrough on stage.  It is also a place where all Hopers worship and give thanks to God.

I am confident that Delia’s Wing will be transformed into a modern and innovative infrastructure that will serve Hopers well, now and into the future.

Thank you for all the hard work of the school to make it happen!"

"What a fabulous news it is to refurbish Delia’s Wing! Students spend their majority of time at school; they may gain lots of benefits from the new facilities, for drama, opera, music function, modern educational programs or academic purposes. Concisely, when school facilities are in good repair and well-designed, it supports high academic standards. I believe that there will be higher student achievement in the future and I do look forward to seeing the new face of Delia’s Wing soon."

"One of my most profound memories of Good Hope School will always be that I was at school when Old Delia's wing was a part of our campus.Time has moved on and now, it is time for the wing's revitalization ,after having served the school for more than 30 years.

I strongly believe that the message of Good Hope school can be carried on even better in the new facility of the refurbished Delia’s Wing . Good Hope 's mission is to nurture future woman leaders, and the new infrastructure to be built will certainly facilitate the learning and development of young Hopers. The new facilities will do their part in creating more opportunities for all of us.

The new wing will be a source of motivation for everyone.We are blessed to be able to enjoy this extraordinary gift of Hope."

"The place where we had our classes;

The place where we had our choir practice, music camps and concerts;

The place where we had our talent quests and fashion shows;

The place where we had our exams;

The place where we had our graduation ceremonies …

You had coloured our school life and witnessed our growth, shaping us into what we are today. Thank you for the service that you had provided for us.

With the redevelopment, the new Delia’s Wing will certainly give our Little Sisters a more remarkable journey at Good Hope School."

"Music is a universal language, it is also a pride of our dear school. Delia's Wing where we have our rehearsal hall, band room and percussion room is definitely a treasurable place where Good Hope musicians share lots of ups and downs. The reminiscence, appreciation and prospection towards the Delia's Wing bond Hopers of different generations together.

Though there will be hard times while waiting for the new Delia’s Wing to be completed, however with the perseverance and love of Hopers, beautiful memories will carries on. We all look forward to the revitalized Delia's Wing, a spectacular spot with multi-functions for training our younger sisters to be an all-rounded adolescence."

"To all Good Hopers, Delia’s Hall is a place full of unforgettable memories.

Singing the solemn school song and beautiful hymns in the hall. Performing choral speaking and drama, receiving prizes and graduation certificate on the stage.

To me, and all sports fans, we won’t forget the time we have various PE classes conducted by Mr Watson Ng and Mr Raymond Tam in the hall, such as, Athletics, Gymnastics, Folk Dance and Table Tennis. The most exciting experiences were rock climbing on the slope next to the hall and abseiling from the rooftop of the Hall. All these precious memories were still vivid to me. I believe the new multi-purpose sports hall and air conditioned gym room will provide an excellent environment for our little sisters to enjoy different sports, and to create more and more wonderful sports experiences to all Good Hopers."

"Being an art student in GHS was an indispensable experience to me. Still remember during my F.4-5 period, I went to Art Room to learn different art and design skills every morning from 7am, recess, lunch time and after school till 5pm. Without this fundamental training, I couldn’t imagine how I can manage to uplift my design profession after graduation. I’m glad to met the most wonderful art teacher, Mr. Alan Lee in this Art Room, who taught all the art students the perseverance in going for your dream and open our minds to the world of art and design."

"Where primary school choir members first get a taste of being on a proper stage,
Where first time speech festival participants learn to face the audience,
Where choral speaking groups learn teamwork and the passion of working towards a shared goal,
Where art lessons became life lessons,
Where hymns are sung and faith is ignited,
Where Central Board members learn to serve and lead, and always be humble,
Where aspiring writers, actresses, producers, and more learn the ropes,

This is just a shortlist of what Delia's Wing was to me, and surely the list may go on and on. For that, I will always be thankful for all the countless hours of lifelong friendships, unforgettable lessons, and precious memories."

"To others, Delia’s Hall may just be a name, but to Good Hopers, it’s definitely more than that. To me, it is a place full of memories as the Head Girl of Session 2012-2013. Every time when step into Delia’s Hall, it feels like yesterday organizing all the Christmas Celebration, Hunger Meal, Talent Show, post-exam activities, etc. and etc. It is not only an important witness of the development of our beloved school, but also the growth of every of our schoolmates, our every first attempts, and our every break-through. It is without doubt that we will all miss the old Delia’s Hall, but still, I hope that we will all support the renovation of it, as with the better Delia’s Hall, comes a better development of our little sisters."

"As a Good Hoper, I'd never forget the apron and handkerchief we first sewed at Needlework lesson for our own use at Home Economics lesson. We enjoyed cooking and baking classes with our friends, shared the sweet and sour of our dishes together. Designing and sewing our own cushions, short pants, skirts were undoubtedly interesting and memorable moments too. I must thank our alma mater to have laid the foundation for us to become young, elegant, responsible ladies in the society."

"Thanks should be given to all teachers and students for working so hard on the Intermission : Delia’s Hall Revitalised Variety Show. Everyone who I spoke to loved the entire show, especially the dance performance by Mrs Green. It was indeed wonderful to see the holistic development of all Good Hopers. I always appreciate the opportunities that the school has given to students so that they could unleash their potential.

The redevelopment of Delia’s Wing will certainly bring Good Hope School to a new era. With advanced technology and facilities, young Hopers can enjoy their learning more!"

"As a past student of GHS (graduated from its kindergarten, primary and secondary sections) as well as a GH primary school parent, I am so excited about the redevelopment of Delia’s Wing. Past students graduating since the mid-80’s must be familiar with this landmark of our School. All of us had a lot of good memories in Delia’s Hall - school concerts, choir performances (our Good Hope Choir led by Ms Daisy Yung was simply unforgettable!), assemblies, class photos taken in front of the mosaic of Mother Delia.

Of course, I could never have forgotten the Geography Room, Art room, Home Economics Room in Delia’s Wing! We had so much fun and laughter there!

Once a Good Hoper, forever a Good Hoper. I am sure the redevelopment of Delia’s Wing will bring more invaluable opportunities to our young generations. It will also help to create more happy memories for them."
